Xian Yun’s arts program trains students in technical competence and enriches their lives with beauty. Traditional arts training helps students become more focused and self-disciplined, improves their academic efficiency, and ultimately leads to greater achievements in school and in life. In accordance with our mission, Xian Yun Academy’s arts curricula draw from a variety of Western and Eastern traditions, ensuring students are exposed to, understand, and appreciate a wide range of world cultures and classical works.
Key features of Xian Yun’s arts program:
• Rigorous instruction in the student’s arts major of choice
• 12 to 18 hours of studio time per week
• School-wide field trips that facilitate artistic exploration and connect to the art community
• Numerous performance and exhibition opportunities throughout the year
In addition to attending the core courses in their arts discipline, students can enroll in after-school clubs or Extended Education courses either to explore a sub-branch of their arts discipline or to gain proficiency in another discipline. For example, a Visual Arts major might opt to join the Fashion Design Club to apply her artistic skills to textile media, or a Dance major might sign up for a private piano lesson to improve her musicality in dance.
