Our exemplary Whole Child Education Model was recognized by the WASC visiting committee as “a unique and needed educational option for students not only in California but internationally as well.”
Our Mission & Vision
“Our mission is to provide young people with a curriculum that features training in traditional arts and that facilitates the understanding of different cultures, offering dance education to persons who are both accomplished and talented.”
Xian Yun Academy of the Arts California endeavors to educate the whole child by placing emphasis on character development (responsibility, respect, honesty, kindness, empathy, and tolerance), the study of culture, academic knowledge, professional skills, and independent thought. Through our traditional arts and academic programs, we foster students’ aesthetic sensibility, moral attentiveness, and intellectual curiosity essential for success in college and as future leaders in the arts, business, and society.
Whole Child Education Model
The Xian Yun Academy of the Arts California distinguishes its whole-child learning from other holistic models by featuring arts training at the core of our students’ moral and intellectual development. We innovate by avoiding quick recipes of innovation. We promote what has endured longest and best in traditional education: the formation of an ethically mature self, immersion in works of abiding merit, and appreciation of the spirit of the arts as creatively embodied in line, color, and movement.
In a structured environment, our students explore their passion by actively participating in dance, music, and the visual arts.
This striving for excellence motivates students to develop the focus and perseverance necessary for both academic and artistic achievement. We believe that the harmonious integration of artistic training, academic study and character development shape individuals able to make vital contributions to the world of the future.
Core Values: respect, responsibility, honesty, kindness, empathy, and tolerance.
