After-School Program Description
Xian Yun Academy’s After-School Program for grades K-5 promotes the same “whole-child” education model practiced by our Academy students. A child thrives when thoughtful care is given to every aspect – personal, behavioral, educational – of their development. At Xian Yun, the combination of rigorous academic classes and classical art training has a strong and positive impact on students’ learning and character development. Complementary training in academics and the arts teach students important skills and self-discipline, motivates students to strive for excellence, and inspires students to respect themselves and others. Both full-time and after-school students benefit from this holistic approach to learning, and Xian Yun Academy’s students have consistently continued to achieve their academic and personal goals after attending Xian Yun Academy.
We currently offer 30 spots in our after-school program, on a first come, first serve basis. The program is split into 2 classes, grades K-2 and 3-5, and the teacher to student ratio is 1:15. By maintaining small class sizes, we ensure high-quality academic guidance and a safe, nurturing environment for our young students.
The After-School Program focuses on homework support, with enrichment reading, activities, and games in English and Chinese. Our after-school instructors teach and encourage good study skills and habits, with the aim of helping students develop into independent learners, and teachers’ pedagogy emphasizes character building, alongside high academic achievement.
After-school students also have the opportunity to take advantage of extra-curricular classes offered by Xian Yun Academy’s Extended Education Program. A wide range of group and private classes are available, including Math, Chinese, Visual Arts, and Dance (additional fees apply; please inquire for details).
